We're taking a child's eye view to Scott County history! Explore how the lives of children have transformed since 1850 through the stories of how they played. Try out some of these toys yourselves! At SCHS, batteries are included.

We love photos because they allow us to preserve moments in time. This gallery showcases snapshots from throughout Scott County's history, from studio portraits and weddings to candids and holiday cards, reminding us that even though Scott County's fashions, neighborhoods, and landscapes have changed over the years, the bonds of community have not.

Minnesota Nicer: Art by Maureen R. Sorensen

For over 50 years, Maureen has admired the artistry of the Minnesota State Fair Crop Art. In 2023 and 2024, she entered a series of my own creations, culminating in the coveted Grand Prize and Best of Show awards. Her winning kaleidoscope set celebrates the tapestry of Minnesota and its diverse cultures, utilizing a vibrant array of crop and plant seeds. Maureen finds joy in exploring the unexpected, from the luminous fluidity of wet-on-wet acrylics, where colors dance and mingle to create abstract floral and landscapes. This year, Maureen expanded her artistic horizons further by delving into the exciting world of sculpture.

As an active member of the Savage Area Arts Community and a founding member of Prior Lake Art Dock, non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting local artists, Maureen is deeply committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive arts community within our region.
